Rant

Well, frankly speaking, singaporeans are so "kiasu". Just look at the current promotion by metro. A 20% anniversary sale and spent $300 or more to redeem x-box/latest Samsung handphone/Baby-G watch/bangkok trip for just $38 but only 25 of those items were available. Therefore, it was a first come first get basis. They are so kiasu that they did not even think hard - the total amount you spent was almost the same as the redeemtion things which you'll get with only $38.

I went to work and stepped into Paragon shopping center. People had started lining up outside Metro Level 2. I say to myself, these kiasus surely want to get those things. Some even came there as early as 7am, one customer said.

One of the toys staffs and I were asked to open up the gate near the escalator upon the operator's command of the code double zero(00). Thus, customers were pushing and running towards the cosmetics counters to get their products and off to the cashier so that they could be the first 25 customer to redeem X-Box or the handphone. At the entrance where my other colleagues were stationed, there were figthings going on. My colleague told me had the customer punched him and he had thrown a punch at him too. I was unfortunate that i did not witness it, if not i had joined in the fight too. Some customers took the advantage to molest others - men molests ladies not the other way around or men molest men. One customer thanked one of my colleagues because he had help her after a men molested her. Things on the shelves neatly arranged at Lancome counter were going to fall but thanks to the store boy for holding it while resisting the crowd.

Situations began to be as per normal after all the redemption were sold out in less than 5 minute. The security was right about singaporeans "You've got the things - Thank you, thank you. You've got no things, Haiyo... what is this, not fair le!"
